The entry of the Austrians into Bosnia has been far

from a mere military parade. In Maglai they were well received, but hearing that resistance was being organised at Zepce, Captain Millinkovich marched on to subdue it ; was received at Zepce with a galling fire, and marched back to Maglai, where the people turned on him, opened a heavy fire from the houses and .cross-banks of the river, and inflicted very severe loss. Seventy men were missing, of whom twenty-five have, it is said, been recovered, but forty-five appear to have been killed. Maglai has since been occupied in force, and the insurgents severely punished by the loss of a great many men. In Herzegovina, the Austrians have been somewhat better received. There their rule appears to be not unpopular.
