ANN. By Mary (Hutchinson. 7s. 6d. net.)—This book is chiefly

interesting for the character sketches of Ann and her mother, though even these are open to the criticism of being too much alike. The mother, Mrs. Sotheby, is, however, an extremely well realized portrait of an accomplished egoist. Unfortunately, the end of the story is hardly convincing.
