A rival has appeared to the Oude Railway Company, in

a scheme called the Oude Central Railway. The Oude Railway Company declare the Central to be an interloper, attempting to appropriate the title of the company first in the field. The Central reply, that they were the earliest projectors, but they were unwilling to advertise till they had got a guarantee from the East India Company.

Another new Indian railway is projected—the Punjaub Railway, to run from Mooltan to Lahore and Umrdsir. A staff of engineers left England in September to make surveys, under the sanction of the East India Company. The proposed capital is 2,500,0001., two-fifths to be allotted to the shareholders of the Seinde Railway.
