" TRAFFIC-CONSCIOUSNESS "

[To the Editor of THE SPECTATOR.] Sni,—" Traffic-consciousness " is a horrible word : " Greater' traffic-consciousness " is worse. I suggest that you repeat the word aloud several times. It is not euphonious ; it sounds like spitting and " shushing." I have not yet reported the capture to Mr. A. P. Herbert, but I am afraid that his order will be, " Shoot it ! "—Yours faithfully, British Vice-Consulate, Varna, Bulgaria. EVA A. BAKER.
