FROM THE Daily Telegraph, January 3: 140 STRAY DOGS ROUNDED

UP LIVERPOOL BAN Fifty-eight of the 140 dogs rounded up during the last two days by police since the introduction of a ban on strays imposed as a result of the outbreak of foot and mouth disease at the Stanley Abattoir at Livdrpool have been claimed or adopted. The re- mainder are still at the dogs home in Liverpool.

The market for the sale of dead meat at the abattoir reopened yesterday. It is not expected that there will be any shortage of meat or any rising in prices this week- end. . . . No, indeed!
