Mr. Shelley has retired from the contest in East Sussex,

in the midst of the poll ; leaving Mr. Darby and Mr. Fuller, the Tories, to be re- turned without further trouble.

The return of the following Members also is announced in town this evening—Colonel Wemyss, for Fifeshire ; Mr. Mostyn, for Flintshire; Mr. A. Murray, for Kirkcudbrightshire ; Lord F. Gordon, for Forfar- shire ; the Honourable H. Arbuthnot, for Kincardineshire ; Mr. W. F. Mackenzie, for Peeblesshire ; Mr. A. Pringle, for Selkirkshire ; and Mr. D. Dundee, for Sttherlandshire.

The Standard says that letters received in town this morning declare that Mr. Wolverley Attwood, the unsuccessful Tory candidate for London, and not Mr. Watson, has been returned for Kinsale.
