LAW OF ENTAIL (SCOTLAND) BILL.—The besetting sin of Scotch proprietors

is to add to old or to build new mansionhouses much too large for their fortunes. In the case of an heir of entail this becomes a sad grievance when family provisions have to be paid out of the annual rent. It therefore appears a fallacy of relief in the Lord Advocate's bill, that an heir of entail is allowed, in various ways, to diminish the amount of entailed land, while at the same time, with the curtailed property, he is still bound to be burdened with "the mansionhouses, offices, and policies." Instead of retaining such a clog, the palaces of the lairds should be the first objects for sale to the millionaires who have the means of keeping them up--From a Correspondent.
