MULCHING One of the best ways of ensuring a good

crop of peas and beans is the use of mulch. Not only does this provide food for the plants, but it helps to retain the surface moisture. Where there is a supply of lawn clippings, these should always be put to use to save the soil from drying out rapidly; but the best mulch is found in a rich, moist bed of decayed leaves, free frocn seeds.
