Bristol Cream

SIR,—Let me point out that in the kind mention of me in Hilary Spurling's article 'Bristol Cream' (May 27), one or two mistakes have been made.

I. My appearance there was in 1923 (not in 1921, when I was with the Old Vic).

2. 1 did not bring the Shakespearean company to Bristol. It was assembled there by Mr Hamilton Baines.

3. As the season went on business definitely improved.
