Polish periodicals

Sir: I have heard several expressions of delight from surprised Polish recipients of The Spectator.

Professor Treciakowski's letter (Letters, 13 May) prompts me to tell you, and hence your Polish readership, that the British Council supplies seven copies of the British Medical Journal to libraries here. One reaches our own library at Al Jerozolims- kie 59.

In fact we spend some 25 per cent of our total periodicals budget on medical jour- nals, but satisfy only a fraction of the demand. If any Spectator reader has medic- al journals which are surplus to require- ments and which could be sent to Poland I should be delighted to hear from them, and to advise them on how the journals could be sent here for distribution.
