Sir: As a relatively recent reader of your splendid Spectator, I so look forward to any contribution from the pen of Mr Alastair Forbes. Is this the same Mr Forbes who ran the soft furnishing department of Harrods for so many years? Your Mr Forbes writes exactly like Mr Forbes of soft furnishings used to talk. Nobody under- stood a word he was saying, but he knew absolutely everybody.
