From Mrs Barbara Jackson Sir: Why not widen the culling area of the alien Canada geese from Kensington Gar- dens nationwide (And another thing, 3 June)?

We could also follow in the culinary foot- steps of that late great foreign correspon- dent Negley Farson, who shot one of these birds in its native British Columbia habitat while living with his wife for two years in a log cabin (before their son Dan was born). He records in his autobiography, The Way of a Transgressor, that he and Eve ate the whole goose, roasted on a fire.

Canadian friends of mine today say it is a tough old bird, though the breasts, marinad- ed in red wine, are perfectly acceptable. Barbara Jackson Twickenham, Middlesex
