of January; but they were not quite so violent as the St. Lucia people. One gentle- man was very earnest for a declaration against taxes ; the motion was not seconded, but it is to be brought forward at a future day.

It requires only a vote from the Negroes of no work, and of the Government of no soldiers, and the wishes of these gentlemen will be consummated.
