The March number of Harper's Magazine is only an average

one in point of letterpress, but it is above the average in point of illustra-

tions. "Modern Spanish Art," "Canadian Voyageurs on the Sanguenay," "A Gipsy Fair in Surrey," and "A Little Swigs Sojourn" are equally good in both respects. Mr. Higg,inson's "A New England Vagabond" is a wonderful story of sordid yet ingenious scoundrelism.
