Trade and Industry of Finland. (Helsingfors : Simelius.) The Finns,

being an educated people, believe in propaganda by means of good books. Some twenty years ago, when they were resisting the Tsar's attempts to annul their Con- stitution and Russify the Grand Duchy, they produced a magnificent volume, printed in several languages, which described for the sympathetic Western world the history, topography and natural resources of Finland. Now that Finland is an independent Republic, freed from the blight of Russian rule, whether Tsarist or Bolshevik, a group of leading Finns, with State assistance, have compiled this fine work, which is designed "to consolidate and extend the commercial relations between Finland and the English-speaking countries." It is written in excellent English, printed in good style and illustrated with numerous photographs of the financial and industrial concerns which are described in detail. An interesting prefatory chapter deals generally with Finnish economics. Anyone desiring to trade with this enterprising and attractive people would be well advised to consult the book.
