Sir: Why does Mr Patrick Cosgrave (March 3) find Mr Whitelaw's outburst about TUC and IRA behaviour so "extraordinary "?

As a working wife struggling to make ends meet in a one-roomed flat with an invalid husband, I heartily agree with Mr Whitelaw. Surely it takes little education to see exactly what he means?

Why doesn't Mr Cosgrave use his excellent brain to explain government policies and help Mr Heath in his monumental task, and use his talents to help save England, instead of wasting time being so clever that his readers just become completely confused?

It's about time we all started calling "a spade a spade and not a bloody shovel," and Mr Whitelaw did just that, God bless him.
