At Liverpool on Wednesday Mr. Churchill, speaking to a Conservative

meeting, denounced the Government and proposed that Liberalism should form " a left wing " of Unionism to resist Socialism. We agree with his objection to the removal of the McKenna duties. No doubt both the good and the evil of the duties have been greatly exaggerated. What we deplore is the unsettle. ment which is being caused.
