News of the Week

The General Election HIS MAJESTY has dissolved the present Parliament and a General Election will be held on the 27th of this month. For a time, therefore, attention here will be distracted from the upheavals elsewhere that are bewildering every student of history and economics ; the shaking.political and financial conditions of Germany ; the economic problems of the United States which must affect the whole world, are only two examples. We shall be distracted, too, from a Conference from which we hope to see arise a new and happy future for our Indian Empire, a Conference so important to mankind that it might well engross the whole attention of British and Indian fellow-subjects. If, then, our first duty and Pre-occupation through this month are demanded by Our elections (and they are indeed most urgently demanded), let us all try to exercise and spread an intelligent treatment of them, and avoid or dispel all the misleading advice that is poured out at these times.
