slightly intermittent during the vacation, will, it is hoped, appear regu- larly as usual. That, however, must depend to some extent on the quality of the contributions received. A fee of eight guineas is offered for the article printed each week; in addition two other articles will, If their quality justifies it, be given honourable mention, the writer of each of them receiving one guinea. Articles, on any subject, should be not more (and not much less) than 1,400 words and need not be typewritten: the writers must be undergraduates of a university or university college in the United Kingdom. Envelopes, addressed to the Editor of/ the "Spectator," 99 Gower' Street, London, W.C.1, should be marked " Undergraduate."
