Sir: Michael Davie's generous enumeration of at least some of Melbourne's civilised amenities (3 October) is of course welcome, but should not `Tintoretto' have read `Tiepolo'? The most conspicuous treasure in the remarkably fine and varied art collection in the Melbourne Gallery is G.B. Tiepolo's Banquet of cleopatra, the well-known 18thcentury Venetian canvas repeatedly exibited in London institutions and often reproduced in the literature of art.
