The September Century is disappointingly heavy and American. The biographers

of Lincoln threaten to become too diffuse, and perhaps the conductors of the Century might give us a little leas—at least in a single number—of the carnage of the Civil War. The paper on "Thomas Jefferson's Home," however, is well written.
