Windows : a Book about Stained and Painted Glass. By

Lewis F. Day. (B. T. Batsford.)—This is an exhaustive book, dealing both with the technical details as well as the art of designing. The author makes some interesting remarks on the mechanically imperfect glass of the Middle Ages. The beauty of colour in old windows often depends on the glass being quite uneven in thick- ness, thus producing gradations of colour. The book is well illustrated, and the critical remarks show that Mr. Day does not limit himself to one epoch of his art.
