The news in regard to Greece is so conflicting and

so confused that we shall not attempt to analyse it in detail. The Greek Government are going to play for safety, with occasional leanings to what appears to be the winning side. That is as near as we can get to the net situation. A good many people are asking what we are going to do now, and whether the situation is not one of very great peril. We cannot very well discuss the question what step to take next, for to doe° might be deemed indiscreet. We see no reason, how ever, to regard the position with any special dread. There are quite enough Frenchmen and Englishmen in and around Salonika to protect themselves from the Bulgarians and the Germans, and if necessary, though we do not think there need be any fear of this, from the Greeks.
