The Italian Government last week declared a blockade of Fiume

in order to compel Signor d'Annunzio to recognize the Treaty of Rapallo, by which Italy and the Southern Slays have regulated their Adriatic frontiers. Signor d'Annunzio declined to evacuate the islands of Veglia and Arbe, which the treaty assigns to the Southern Slays, or to give up the three Italian warships whose commanders had joined him. The crews of two destroyers in the blockading fleet mutinied on Tuesday and took their ships into Fiume. It seems, however, that the Italian public is weary of the dispute, and Signor d'Annunzio's friends have all urged him to accept the inevitable.
