SIR,—As a footnote to a letter of Mine in the Spectator of January 21st you commented that "the average age (of all candidates taking the London University Midsummer 1948 General School Certificate Examination) is hardly relevant. What would be interesting would be to know how many candidates took the examination below the age of 16."
