"SPECTATOR."] Sin,—Mr. Macfadyen, in his letter on "Reunion and the Papacy," seems curiously to forget that a report in a Church newepaper is not a Papal Decree. It is a common thing to speak of the claims of the Papacy as if they formed almost the only bar to Christian reunion. As a matter of fact, there are many other principles and regulations which Protestants would find quite as difficult to accept, and which Catholics would never resign.—I am, Sir, &T., D.
