RECORD PROFITS.

The profits statement recently issued by F. W. Woolworth and Company must be regarded as magnificent, the net profits for 1934 amounting, after depreciation and fees, to £4,879,950 compared with £4,525,384 for 1933. Provision for taxation requires £1,077,672 against 11,117,435 in the previous year, the Preference dividend takes £232,500, and £50,000 is transferred to freehold building reserve. As in the previous year, the staff benevolent fund receives £10,000, leaving £5,614,454 to be carried forward compared with £4,429,676 brought into the accounts from 1933. .
