Remarriage in church

From Sir lain 1VIoncrieffe of that Ilk Sir: The Anglican view about the remarriage of divorced people in Church seems a bit muddling (December 7). Is our Anglican Church not established under a Supreme Governor who is also anointed spiritual and temporal Head of State? And do not Archbishops and Lords Bishop sit in Parliament? And has the Supreme Governor as Sovereign in Parliament not absolved divorced people of their wedding vows?

Perhaps you could remind us why my ancestral great-uncle Henry VIII founded this separate Church of England, and in what sort of building he married various other ladies during the lifetime of his first avowed wife, my wife's ancestral aunt Catherine of Aragon?
