The History of Ireland. By Townsend Young, LL.D. (Dublin :

M'Glashan and Gill.)—This is a very creditable little compendium of Irish history, designed for the use of schools, and distinguished by as small a display of party spirit as could fairly be hoped for in a history of Ireland written by an Irishman. Dr. Townsend's notion of the relative import- ance of events must, however, be somewhat peculiar, since, having compressed the whole history of Ireland into 278 12mo. pages, he de- votes no less than five of them to the death of the late Prince Consort.
