The result of the Hoover conversations has improved sentiment as regards foreign bonds and overseas securities generally. Brazilians have advanced again on the belief that the country will be able to avoid any interference with the service on its external debt, that and other South Americans have risen, and that apparently the old-fashioned notion that the best way to improve credit is to make every effort to meet obliga- tions, instead of seeking to obtain relief from them, is gaining ground. Australian stocks have hardened, and it is reported that Mr. Theodore, the Commonwealth Treasurer, is to come to London to discuss the problem of meeting Australia's
