More recent accounts have been received of the riot in

Ennis on Tuesday. Two persons were killed by the fire of the police, and seven- teen were wounded ; and it is feared that some of the latter will die. The people assembled in tumultuous crowds, crying, " We must have blood for blood." Mr. Callinan, the Crown-Solicitor, went among them to pacify them ; promising inquiry, and prosecution of offenders. He mentioned that the crowd had offered no resistance to the Poice, and that most of those injured were wounded in the back. It is also stated, that all persons in authority deny having given the order to fire. The town remained in an alarmingly excited state; and reinforcements of troops had been sent for.
