Not on your telly

Sir: For how much longer do we all have to endure Mr Paul Johnson's obsessional vendetta against the telly? Does he really believe, as he said on 28 May, that it is 'a dangerous medium which must be effec- tively supervised'. Dangerous? The telly, which stands in the corner and has to wage a running battle with the telephone, other people's chit-chat, the need to feed the dog/cat/baby, someone at the door and, above all, sleep: Dangerous? Surely he must be joking?
