Sir: I enjoy, every week, the jottings of your little

Greek boy, Taki. But it has always saddened me a little that he should sneer so remorselessly at the 'draft dodger' (High life, 4 June). And now Paul Johnson joins the chorus, (Another thing, 4 June). I, for one, consider any American who refused to engage in that cruel and tragic Vietnamese civil war as justified. I am not a pacifist, I was shot down by the Germans as an RAF pilot, and then found myself in Stalag Luft 3. That war was justified.

And now Paul Johnson blames Clinton for the Somalia mess. Wasn't it Bush who sent Americans there?
