Village Amenities

Those who lament that we are far more dependent upon others for our amusements than our ancestors were might find a little consolation from the study of village-life in some of the remote parts of England. Villages in our own neighbourhood may have a weekly whist-drive with an occasional visit from a mobile cinema ; and such organisations as the County Library, the Women's Institute and the Gardeners' Associd- tion provide ample diversions for all who desire them. When it come,. however, to football or cricket there is a danger that playing members of the clubs may be so few that little competition arises for places in a team.
