Sir Charles Wood had a severe accident on Wednesday, near

Doncaster. He was thrown from his horse while hunting, and lighting on his head was taken up insensible. The latest account is very favourable, but an accident of that kind shakes a man of his age very seriously, and may indispose him for the fatigue of one of the most laborious of official positions. Sir Charles Wood, though excessively unpopular with Anglo-Indians, is a painstaking and, in his way, successful politician, and the news of his recovery will be received with pleasure by men who do not believe that he is of great value either to the Ministry or the country.
