The Duke of Devonshire's great reception in Belfast on Thursday
was an event far more important than the speeches. The policy of making Ulster, which is loyal to the core, dis- loyal to the core, in order to attempt making the rest of Ire- land faintly and ambiguously loyal, will hardly prosper with the English people in the presence of such a reception as that.
