We are glad to note that Lord French in his

arduous inspections of the Volunteers continues to insist on the unquestionable need of maintaining and expanding the Volunteer movement. Furthen he insists that the grant of arms and equipment to the Volunteers must be accompanied by the withdrawal of the right of resignation on fourteen days' notice which belongs to the Volunteers under the Act of 1863—an Act, remember, drawn up in peace time.
