Into Europe '

Sir: The Prime Minister and other Politicians continue to refer to Britain's ' entry into Europe which seems to me a meaningless expression. Whether we like it or not, Britain is and always has been part of Europe. This fact is not altered simply because our present government chooses to surrender our independence to a group containing eight other European countries.

Like so much else that has been fraudulent in the whole manoeuvre, the expression "Britain going into Europe" contains the implied pretence that Europe comprises only those countries forming the "European Economic Community."

Are not Spain, Portugal, Norway, Austria and Switzerland also part of Europe, not to mention the countries of Eastern Europe?
