The debate on Wednesday began with a personal explanation by

the Prime Minister, who said that in a previous statement to the House he had been betrayed by his strong feelings into an inaccuracy. Ile had stated, or implied, that he had had no cognisance of the Campbell prosecution, but he afterwards remembered that the matter had been talked about by him and his colleagues. "But no personal considerations were in our minds at all." He apologized if he had misled the House, but his mistake had not been intentional.
