Major G. H. Scott

Major G. H. Scott, who was forty-two years old, was a remarkable airship captain. He devoted-himself exclu- sively to the study of lighter-than-air machines. In 1919 he commanded 'R84' which flew from -Scotland to

the United States and back—a voyage which was in advance of anything attempted by the aeronauts of other countries. He was the inventor of the system of mooring airships to a mast or tower—a system which is now established in the United States as well as here. He was officer in charge of' 11100' on her recent flight to Canada and back. He was a great propagandist by virtue of the solidity of his achievements rather than of any aptitude, such as Lord Thomson and Sir Sefton Braneker had, for speech and writing. * *
