The Revolution in Brazil

In Brazil there is a revolutionary movement much graver than any that has been known there for many years. As usual in South America the grievance is against a too dictatorial President. But there are other causes, the chief of which is the collapse of prices. A particular complaint against the President is that he has broken the rule that the two chief States contribute a President in turns. The President, who belongs to sa. Paulo, wants to nominate a new candidate from his own State. Like the successful leaders of the recent revolution in Argentina, the rebels desire to form a Provisional Government which shall guarantee fresh

and fair elections.
