Mr. Justice Birkett, having been sitting in an improvised court

of law for the last ten months, seized the earliest opportunity of renew- ing touch with the real thing by taking his seat on the bench at Aylesbury Quarter Sessions on Monday. He is sailing for the United States on the 'Queen Elizabeth' next week to deliver an address to the American Bar Association. Nothing could be more valuable in the interests of Anglo-American understanding, as a similar mission by Sir Norman during the war proved decisively.
