SIR,—As a practising newsagent I hasten to con - gratulate Mr.

Churchill on his excellent and factual report on 'The Newsagent's Lot.' How refreshing it is to find a contributor who is prepared to gain first-hand practical experience of a problem before offering his opinion. May I dare to suggest that the principle could well be followed by newspaper proprietors, to their advantage, before committing

themselves to a course cr.: action which could, in ignorance, be both foolish and costly.

Whilst I recognise the constant need for new ideas in the presentation of the printed word and the Unrelenting efforts necessary to stimulate circula- tion, it can only be properly achieved with an in- telligent appreciation of the whole system of news- Paper distribution, as it applies in this country, upon which efficiency sound circulations are founded.
