THE NEWSAGENT'S LOT

Sint—From your commentator's latest article, it would seem that the typical newsagent. alreadY makes a reasonable profit on delivery. There was a time when we had our newspapers delivered free; now it appears we not only have to pay for delivery but to subsidise the newsagent as well. Eight hund- red houses at 4d. a week—l3 6s. 8d.; thirteen buYs at an average of I Is. 3d. a week—L7 6s. 3d. Is there any real justification for that £300 a year profit ofl delivery? On 1,047 papers delivered daily it may ho a great deal more.
