American seed catalogue writers are beginning to learn the art

of the late P. T. Barnum, the super-showman. This is how the pansy is described in a seed catalogue which came into the possession of an editorial writer on the New York Nation :—

"Cedarstrom's Giant Orchid-flowered Butterfly Pansies are

world-famous for their superb spread, elegant form, careless freedom

of growth, fiery diversity of colour and.tone, and for the persistence of the bold, velvety blossoms through summer heat and autumn cold. The late Theophilus Cedarstrom sent scouts to scour six continents to build this race of super-pansies."
