[TO THE EDITOR OF THE " SPECTATOR."] Sin;—I quite well remember that some one asked Mr. Tennyson to whom ho was referring in the lines quoted, suggesting Long- fellow, to which he replied that he had forgotten the exact reference, but thought he meant to allude to Goethe.—I am, [We believe that this is the true explanation.
