On Tuesday in the House of Lords Lord Curzon moved

a vote of censure on the Government in the same terms as that moved in the Commons the day before. The most interesting feature of the debate that followed was the speech of Lord Crewe. He gave an account of the Government's action very similar to Mr. Asquith's, though he emphasized the fact that the King entertained the suggestion of the use of the Preroga- tive "with natural and legitimate reluctance." When the division was taken there were 282 votes for the motion and 68 against. The vote of censure was therefore carried by a majority of 214.
