Ireland has not, after all, had to wait for long

without a Lord- Lieutenant. On Monday it was announced that Lord Wimborne had been reappointed to the office which he resigned in May. A week before Mr. Asquith had declared his intention not to fill a post which he described in contemptuous terms as an anomaly, though he would not abolish it. The Lord-Lieutenant, Mr. Asquith states, will now be informed of what his nominal subordinates are doing and will be allowed to consult with them. But Mr. Duke alone will be responsible for the Irish administration.
