The Eerie Book. Edited by Margaret Armour. (Shiells and Co.)—This

is a goodly collection of ghosts and apparitions from Poe to Fouque, as well as some short legends of traditional horror. Of the latter sort is " Earl Beardie's Game at Cards," which explains why the turret-room in Glamis Castle had to be walled up. The illustration to this story, by W. B. Macdougall, is excellent. The devil's tail is most expressive, the rest of his body having disappeared through the keyhole. The book is nicely got up, with the exception of the print, which, though sharp and black, is dazzling to the eyes, possibly through some fault of spacing.
