Treasures of the British Museum

The last of Thames Television's programmes on the departments of the British Museum, with Professor Asa Briggs introducing the Department of Manuscripts, will be screened next Wednesday. Surprisingly one of the most colourful in the series, it covers diaries, letters and musical scores as well as the more familiar illuminated manuscripts, and documents like Magna Carta. Also Lord Trevelyan, Chairman of the Trustees, will be talking about the Museum's future.

Since they began in November these programmes have been seen regularly in more than 2,000,000 homes. Their greatest audience has been in Thames' own area, London, where they have been shown earlier in the evening than elsewhere.

Programme 13 — The Workshop Wednesday 16 February 10.30 pm and repeated on Friday 18 February 3.40 pm.
